Parks and Recreation

Recreational fun can be enjoyed all year round thanks to the stunning natural setting of Lac du Flambeau. In the summer, live is spent on the water, whether fishing, boating, swimming, or other water sports. Trails are found throughout the area for hiking and biking. The winter months are filled with snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, and more.

Nature lovers will enjoy exploring Chippewa Trail State Natural Area, Headwater Lakes State Natural Area, and Powell Marsh Wildlife Area. Recreational activities include wildlife viewing, hunting, hiking, cross country skiing, and more depending on the time of year.

Great swimming spots are found all over Lac du Flambeau for residents to cool off in the summer. They include Lac du Flambeau Tribal Campground, Leech Beach, and Sand Beach. These spots also include beautiful beaches to relax on.

There are several community parks for residents to enjoy a relaxing afternoon or to use for recreational fun. The Ross Allen Sr. Pavilion has baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and a walking/running track.

There are a few unique shopping and dining options available located right within Lac du Flambeau. It has become a favorite spot for artists, resulting in numerous galleries. Be sure to check out Adaawe Place, a new shopping district filled with traditional arts and crafts. There are also home goods, resale shops, and grocery stores in town. Grab a bite to eat at The Flame or one of the two restaurants located at the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino.


There are two schools that educate the students of Lac du Flambeau. Students in kindergarten through 8th grade attend Lac du Flambeau Public School. High school students attend Lakeland Union High School in nearby Minocqua.
